Publications Intern – Canada Summer Job Position

Community Links is a provincial non-profit dedicated to ensuring older adults can age well in their communities. Members include senior-serving organizations, clubs, and individuals who address aspects of aging well including physical and mental health, active living, social connection, transportation, and appropriate, affordable housing; our regionally-based Aging Well Together Coalitions offer members opportunities to increase their collective impact.

Community Links is seeking a detail-oriented, self-starter with strong writing skills and the ability to work in a multi-project environment.

The Publications Intern will provide research support by reviewing, updating, or modifying Community Links’ current resources to be published on our website and in other communications.

The Intern will provide communication support including creating, editing, and managing content for print materials, e-newsletter and social media.

Experience in MS Office Suite, digital communications, media relations, writing in various forms (e.g. profiles, features, news releases, online, etc.), and editing an asset.

Position: (280 hours) to be completed by September 3, 2022. Located at Community Links Provincial Office, Halifax and/or from home. $18.00/hr.

Description of duties:

Research and Communications:

  • Develop and curate educational, informational, and best practice materials for older adults about issues including social connection, agism, and wellbeing for social media posts.
  • Develop promotional materials or resources for Community Links
  • Help develop an education campaign for Seniors Week October 1-7

Aging Well 2023 Calendar:

Coordinate Content for our 2023 Aging Well Calendar, including:

  • Curate information and resources
  • Develop written content

Supervision:  Supervision by Executive Director

Qualifications: Training in Communication, Social Research, Life-long Education, or a related field. Proficiency with MS Office Suite. Excellent communication skills, including social media.  

The applicant is between 15 and 30 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada; must meet all requirements of the Canada Summer Jobs program.
