Position: Regional Coordinator Antigonish/Guysborough Counties
Type: .4 FTE (15 hours weekly)
Responsible To: Executive Director, Community Links
Community Links is a provincial non-profit that promotes and supports age friendly communities by connecting individuals and organizations, with a vision that all Nova Scotians can age well.
Regional Coordinators spark connections and facilitate collaboration among representatives of seniors’ clubs, senior-serving organizations, businesses, government and individuals who address issues of aging well, including physical and mental health, active living, social connection, transportation and appropriate, affordable housing; our regionally based Aging Well Together Coalitions offer members opportunities to learn, share resources and increase their collective impact.
Position Scope: To support and facilitate the work of Community Links in fulfilling its mission, vision, and strategic priorities in the region, with particular emphasis on the development and support of Aging Well Together Coalitions and Age-Friendly Communities planning. Must be able to work independently and collaboratively.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a provincial team consisting of Executive Director, Regional Coordinators, provincial office, and contract staff.
- Promote the value of older adults and strengthen the spirit and appreciation of older adults by raising awareness of their roles and contributions.
- Help build skills, resources, and partnerships to increase engagement of older adults in their communities.
- Support and encourage communities to identify and realize the assets (both physical and social) that contribute to Age-Friendly Communities.
- Promote and engage in Age Friendly Communities planning work.
- Provide communications, collaboration and planning support to Aging Well Together Coalitions.
- Support other aging well initiatives in the region as appropriate and as time allows.
- Deliver workshops and presentations on aging well topics.
- Coordinate or support the regional implementation of provincial projects.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in community development and collective impact approaches and principles.
- Ability to explore and advance opportunities for collaboration and partnership-building with stakeholders.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to plan and host on-line meetings using ZOOM or other platforms.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to a changing environment.
- Knowledge of government and community-based programs and services related to older adults.
- Understanding of the social indicators of health.
- Experience working with and for older adults.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
- Able to work flexible hours and travel throughout region.
- Able to work from a home-based office.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle (driver abstract and criminal record check required).
- A six-month probationary period applies.
- Performance appraisal.
- Length of contract is contingent on ongoing funding and will end when the funding ends.
Benefits:
- Salary is $15,990 for.4 FTE (15 hours weekly), subject to on-going funding.
- Standard benefits (CPP, EI).
- 3 weeks paid vacation plus paid week between Christmas and New Year.
- Reimbursement for travel and home office expenses.
